It's excellent! Though from what I've heard, most people don't agree. I don't know what the hell people expect from horror movies these days. There were these asshats sitting behind me who wouldn't shut up throughout the entirety of the film. When it ended one of them said "Dude that sucked! It wasn't scary or nothing! I was expecting to be scared."
There are four major problems with his review.
1) If you are over the age of 13 I really don't think any movie should be scaring you anymore. Unless you never got over your adolescent fear of the dark either.
2) Instead of becoming enraptured in the movie as I was, he and his friends mocked every single scene. We all know this is a defense mecanism used to lighten tense situations. He never even tried to suspend his disbelief, the movie was "lame" right from the opening scene.
3) The scene where the freak child sneaks up from behind Rose then lets out the most inhuman shriek I've ever heard was a terrifying aural experience. And that's really what Silent Hill has always been about. Fans of the games should remember that dog-thing with the human face from the original Silent Hill.

4) Anyone who doesn't think being raped with razor-wire is unnerving should be commited to mental hospital immediately...
